Lake Fantanele

Posted on

“This is the happiest day of my life!”  I think almost every kid said that, perhaps in different ways but still the same meaning, during our trip to Lake Fantanele this week.  After 3 and a half hours of some of the worst roads Romania has to offer in a van packed with Casa Alba children we arrived in a tiny mountain town surrounded by an incredibly beautiful lake.  Past the lake, literally straight up the side of the mountain, an even more torn up road led us to the cabin we had rented for the 4 day trip.  It was perfect for the 16 of us…plenty of room to let the CA kids run around without worrying about where they were, a fantastic bonfire spot, close to the trails that led to the meadow at the top of the mountain, no sounds at all at night, amazing stars spread out above to stare at, hot days and a cold lake and a bunch of crazy kids who loved it all.  Bucurati-va in Domnul, iarasi zic, bucurati-va!  (filipeni 4:9).  We all definitely did that during this very special few days away!  My internet isn’t working so I’m “borrowing” a nearby link that my computer found.  Due to this I am only posting a couple of pictures and am keeping this short!  More to come in the days to follow….

  1. Thought you’d be interested to know that water wings are one of the most dangerous “floatable” objects for kids who don’t know how to swim. Sorry – it’s the former lifeguard in me coming out!!!
